Crime & Trauma Scene Decontamination Specialist
This six (6) day course consists of a combination of classroom and intense "HANDS ON" training in proper decontamination procedures compliant with Canadian Standards and Regulations.
Students will be trained using real time simulations based on actual crime & trauma scenes - learning the proper procedures and requirements for the decontamination of Biohazardous Infectious Materials (WHMIS CLASS D, DIVISION 3) at a 6 month human decomposition, a double homicide or suicide, to the proper removal of finger print dust. The student will also be trained in proper protocol, empathy and compassion, all aspects of chemical foundations and how they apply to crime & trauma scenes.

| Day 2 - 5 | Participants will spend the mornings in a classroom setting and the afternoons will be dedicated to "hands-on practice" with exposure to equipment, chemicals, techniques and procedures. |

- Proper equipment requirements and use
- Biohazard Clean-up, Waste Transportation and Disposal
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Health & Safety Procedures
- Business structure, marketing and development tips
- Communication skills to effectively deal with grieving clients
During this course, we will also cover the legal environment related to crime & trauma scene decontamination. This dynamic portion of the industry is explained at the federal and provincial level along with trends that are shaping the way you will operate for years to come.
As is the case in all business ventures, the technical aspects are but one part of the overall success of the operation. Our business instruction includes, but is not limited to, marketing your company, pricing, tracking project performance margins, and examples of corporate structure. The course materials provided in this class will be a valuable resource in developing your company plans and supporting your company's operations. Templates of exposure control programs, contracts as well as non-compete legality forms by Canadian standards will also be included.
While we recommend that all technicians have their CPR & First-Aid Certification, we currently do not provide this as part of our training program.
Course Outcomes:
Through technical presentations and realistic hands-on training, participants will gain the experience and knowledge to effectively handle most Crime & Trauma Scenes including:

- Introduction to Infection Control
- Introduction to Biological Terrorism
- Chemical requirements and use
- Equipment function and usage
- Odour remediation techniques
Participants will have gained the knowledge and skill to safely deal with the physical and biological risks associated with this industry.

- Bloodborne Pathogen Exposure Control Program;
- Respiratory Exposure Control Program;
- Fit Test Certificate for Half and Full Respirator Mask;
- Business and Marketing Plan Template -refinancing and business direcction;
- Legal Contract Template - agreement for you and your clients.
Upon completion of this course students will be certified as a "Crime & Trauma Scene Decontamination Specialist" by the Canadian Authority For Decontamination Specialists.
