Disease Outbreak Control Specialist
This 2 day course trains students on the basics of disease transmission and takes you through the methods of decontaminating diseases in various environments. From animal, bird and rodent contamination that affect residential communities, to Avian Flu H5N1, SARS, NoroVirus, Tuberculosis, and other diseases on ships, planes, businesses, schools, daycare centres, and other sites outside of the healthcare arena such as prisons, police holding cells and transfer vehicles. The student will learn the latest techniques and chemistry for decontamination. Training in the appropriate personal protective equipment and respiratory protection will be included as well as fit testing.
Upon completion of this course students will be certified as an "Infection Control Specialist" by the Canadian Authority For Decontamination Specialists and the Ontario Ministry of Education.
